Series of Mockery and its Event

I just read this chain mail that was sent out from our e-mails which are kind of annoying. The e-mails entail about the verse Galatians 6:7, that mocking God is beyond forbidden. The e-mail also relates about known people who had were rumored mocking God. But for some reason its quite disturbing showing unorthodox stuffs like this. I was challenged to look for facts and here goes…

Galatians 6:7
-- 'Be not deceived; God is not mocked:
for whatsoever a man sow, that shall he also reap.

What makes sense is that...

The Bible quotation in the eRumor taken from Galatians 6:7 but was used out context to the text surrounding it. The Apostle Paul's letter to the Galatians is about Grace, Christian living and the sixth chapter warns against being condescending and instructs on helping others who fall into sin.

“John Lennon (Singer)”

Some years before, during his interview with an American Magazine, he said: 'Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not have to argue about that. I am certain. Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, today we are more famous than Him' (1966). Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times.

What makes sense is that...

John Lennon did not die or shot right away after saying those words. He was shot and killed after 14 years later. With that span, his views and opinions about God changed. Here is a lyrics of a song he wrote reportedly before he was shot killed on December 8, 1980.

The question is, why would God wait so long to smite John Lennon? And whoever quoted the words are quoted incomplete. Here is the actual statement that John Lennon said.,
"Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue with that; I'm right and I will be proved right. We're more popular than Jesus now; I don't know which will go first — rock and roll or Christianity. Jesus was all right, but his disciples were thick and ordinary. It's them twisting it that ruins it for me."

“Tancredo Neves (President of Brazil)”

During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 votes from his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency. Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died.

What makes sense is that...

He was elected president of Brazil in January 1985. Neves underwent surgery before his inauguration and were unable to take office. Vice president elect José Sarney Costa temporarily assumed the presidency. Neves never recovered and died from complications following his surgery. We have not found any evidence that he made the statement about God.

“Cazuza (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet)”

During A show in Canecio ( Rio de Janeiro ), while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said:’ God, that's for you..' He died at the age of 32 of LUNG CANCER in a horrible manner.

What makes sense is that...

Cazuza didn’t die with lung cancer but with Aids. He was a Brazilian composer, singer and poet who were noted for mixing the Bosse Nova with British and American Popular music styles. According to his obituary in the July 8, 1990 New York Times, the openly bisexual Cazuza died of aids at the age of 32, not lung cancer. We have not found any evidence that he mocked God

“TITANIC”

The man who built the Titanic, after the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he said: 'Not even God can sink it' the result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic.

What makes sense is that...

The event on Titanic was tragic. 1517 people died in the icy Atlantic. But when you think about it, God doesn't come off very good if we say that He sent all those people to their watery graves because of a remark the Captain made. (or was it a sign posted at the construction site? or an advert in a magazine?) And what about all the believers who perished?

“Marilyn Monroe (Actress)”

She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show. He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her. After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said: 'I don't need your Jesus'. A week later, she was found dead in her apartment

What makes sense is that...

Marilyn Monroe was married at the age to 21 to her first husband, Jimmy Dougherty. According to the bio on Monroe's official web site, Dougherty, said of his wife, "She was a sweet, generous and religious girl." Monroe was reared as a foster child in a devoutly Christian family in Hawthorne, California but there is not much information about what her spiritual beliefs were before she died. Monroe's death was ruled to be "acute barbiturate poisoning" by Los Angeles County Coroner, Dr. Thomas Noguchi. A spokesperson for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association said that there was no discussion between Marilyn Monroe and Billy Graham.

“Bon Scott (Singer)”

The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang: 'Don't stop me; I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell'. On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit.

What makes sense is that...

Bon Scott was the co-writer of the ACDC 1979 popular song "Highway to Hell" and at the age of 33 was pronounced dead on arrival at Kings College in London, England. The cause of death was asphyxiation as a result of vomiting after passing out after a night of heavy alcohol consumption. The song Highway to Hell lyrics referred to the self destructive lifestyle of the rock and roll artist with the lyrics:
"Hey Satan, payin' my dues. Playing in a rocking band. Hey Momma, look at me I'm on my way to the Promised Land. I'm on the highway to hell."

“Campinas (IN 2005)”

In Campinas, Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend. The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car:

'My Daughter, Go With God And May He Protect You.' She responded:
'Only If He (God) Travels In The Trunk, Cause Inside Here......It's Already Full’

Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died, the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact. The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken.

What makes sense is that...

The story is substantial at any cause knowing that there is no any news that pertains to this specific accident. If you’re going to check all the news or stories which pertain to this, it goes in a different version of story. This makes this story as classified urban myth.

“Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer)”

She said that Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written. In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle.

What makes sense is that...

While an admired figure in Jamaica, many have criticized her for her public statement during an interview that the "Bible was the worst book ever written" and that she did not believe nor follow Christianity.

Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer) was Jamaica's version of the shock jock, much in the mold of Howard Stern in the United States. Hewitt, who gained notoriety as host of the adult television show, 'Man Talk', was murdered on June 29 in St. Catherine. She was found burnt beyond recognition in her car after being attacked by an unknown number of assailants. Many claim she was "working on something big," and may have been murdered to prevent her news from reaching the public. Also a public relations practitioner and stage-show promoter, she died two months after she announced she would be entering representational politics.

Might be related but this tie up to a different strings of issues which talks more about political stuffs. As you can see her death happened right after month of declaration of tying herself in politics.

.. this story might be reasonable to such punishment for mockery but lets not forget that God is not with thesame intelligence with us. I don't think its right to put this stuffs under Him when in fact we dont have substantial proofs of this as His own doing.

Psychosis

Psychosis (from the Greek ψυχή "psyche", for mind or soul, and -ωσις "-osis", for abnormal condition) literally means abnormal condition of the mind, and is a generic psychiatric term for a mental state often described as involving a "loss of contact with reality". People suffering from psychosis are said to be psychotic.

People experiencing psychosis may report hallucinations or delusional beliefs, and may exhibit personality changes and thought disorder. This may be accompanied by unusual or bizarre Justify Fullbehavior, as well as difficulty with social interaction and impairment in carrying out the daily life activities.

A wide variety of central nervous system diseases, from both external poisons and internal physiologic illness, can produce symptoms of psychosis.

However, many people have unusual and unshared (distinct) experiences of what they perceive to be different realities without fitting the clinical definition of psychosis. For example, many people in the general population have experienced hallucinations related to religious or paranormal experience. As a result, it has been argued that psychosis is simply an extreme state of consciousness that falls beyond the norms experienced by most. In this view, people who are clinically found to be psychotic may simply be having particularly intense or distressing experiences.

SIGN AND SYMPTOMS

  • Hallucinations
A hallucination is defined as sensory perception in the absence of external stimuli. They are different from illusions, or perceptual distortions, which are the misperception of external stimuli. Hallucinations may occur in any of the five senses and take on almost any form, which may include simple sensations (such as lights, colors, tastes, and smells) to more meaningful experiences such as seeing and interacting with fully formed animals and people, hearing voices, and having complex tactile sensations.

Auditory hallucinations, particularly experiences of hearing voices, are a common and often prominent feature of psychosis. Hallucinated voices may talk about, or to, the person, and may involve several speakers with distinct personas. Auditory hallucinations tend to be particularly distressing when they are derogatory, commanding or preoccupying. However, the experience of hearing voices need not always be a negative one. One research study has shown that the majority of people who hear voices are not in need of psychiatric help. The Hearing Voices Movement has subsequently been created to support voice hearers, regardless of whether they are considered to have a mental illness or not.

  • Delusions
Psychosis may involve delusional beliefs, some of which are paranoid in nature. Karl Jaspers has classified psychotic delusions into primary and secondary types. Primary delusions are defined as arising suddenly and not being comprehensible in terms of normal mental processes, whereas secondary delusions may be understood as being influenced by the person's background or current situation (e.g., ethnic or sexual orientation, religious beliefs, superstitious belief).

  • Thought disorder
Thought disorder describes an underlying disturbance to conscious thought and is classified largely by its effects on speech and writing. Affected persons show loosening of associations, that is, a disconnection and disorganization of the semantic content of speech and writing. In the severe form speech becomes incomprehensible and it is known as "word-salad".

CAUSES

Causes of symptoms of mental illness were customarily classified as "organic" or "functional". Organic conditions are primarily medical or pathophysiological, whereas, functional conditions are primarily psychiatric or psychological. The DSM-IV-TR no longer classifies psychotic disorders as functional or organic. Rather it lists traditional psychotic illnesses, psychosis due to General Medical conditions, and Substance induced psychosis.

Functional causes of psychosis include the following:

  • * brain tumors
  • * drug abuse amphetamines, cocaine, alcohol among others
  • * brain damage
  • * schizophrenia
  • * bipolar disorder (manic depression)
  • * severe clinical depression
  • * severe psychosocial stress
  • * sleep deprivation
  • * some focal epileptic disorders especially if the temporal lobe is affected
  • * exposure to some traumatic event (violent death, etc.)
  • * abrupt or over-rapid withdrawal from certain recreational or prescribed drugs

A psychotic episode can be significantly affected by mood. For example, people experiencing a psychotic episode in the context of depression may experience persecutory or self-blaming delusions or hallucinations, while people experiencing a psychotic episode in the context of mania may form grandiose delusions.

Stress is known to contribute to and trigger psychotic states. A history of psychologically traumatic events, and the recent experience of a stressful event, can both contribute to the development of psychosis. Short-lived psychosis triggered by stress is known as brief reactive psychosis, and patients may spontaneously recover normal functioning within two weeks. In some rare cases, individuals may remain in a state of full-blown psychosis for many years, or perhaps have attenuated psychotic symptoms (such as low intensity hallucinations) present at most times.

Sleep deprivation has been linked to psychosis. However, this is not a risk for most people, who merely experience hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucinations, i.e. unusual sensory experiences or thoughts that appear during waking or drifting off to sleep. These are normal sleep phenomena and are not considered signs of psychosis.

Vitamin B12 deficiency can also cause symptoms of mania and psychosis.

Vitamin D deficiency can cause altered thinking and psychosis.

Genetics may also have a role in psychosis. The Genain quadruplets were identical quadruplets who were all diagnosed with schizophrenia.

General medical

Psychosis arising from "organic" (non-psychological) conditions is sometimes known as secondary psychosis. It can be associated with the following pathologies:

* neurological disorders, including:
  • o brain tumour
  • o dementia with Lewy bodies
  • o multiple sclerosis
  • o sarcoidosis
  • o Lyme Disease
  • o syphilis
  • o Alzheimer's Disease
  • o Parkinson's Disease

* electrolyte disorders such as:
  • o hypocalcemia
  • o hypernatremia
  • o hyponatremia
  • o hypokalemia
  • o hypomagnesemi
  • o hypermagnesemia
  • o hypercalcemia
  • o hypophosphatemia
  • * hypoglycemia
  • * lupus
  • * AIDS
  • * leprosy
  • * malaria
  • * Adult-onset vanishing white matter leukoencephalopathy
  • * Late-onset metachromatic leukodystrophy
  • * Cerebral involvement of scleroderma (a single case report).
  • * Hashimoto's encephalopathy, an extremely rare condition (about 100 reported cases).

Psychosis can even be caused by apparently innocuous ailments such as flu or mumps.

... I am not crazy. I just want to remind myself that I have to be somewhat aware of whats happening to myself. Maybe I am, maybe I am not. But either ways I have to be keen or else.
